This week I was really pleased to be able to attend a film screening by Whitehawk After School Project (WASP), where a short film featuring young people and adults talking about what there is to do in the area and what they would like to see provided for young people.
It was interesting that whilst older people said there was not enough for young people to do, the young people themselves spoke about the activities on offer at the Youth Centre and at the Crew Club. There was also an exhibition of photographs taken by the young people which were excellent, and many activities on including a climbing wall.
The youth club for 9 - 13 year olds at the Whitehawk Youth Centre is free and operates every Tuesday and Thursday between 5 and 7.30pm during term times. For more information call 01273 674427. WASP is supported by The National Lottery and by Impact Initiatives.
