This Sunday saw Mile Oak travel the short distance to Whitehawk, the boys were full of hope after their 2 opening wins of the season, with 2 clean sheets also. With Christian out, Skinner was in line to replace him; however he somehow dislocated both his shoulders the day before, which meant under 17’s Wedge-Bull would come in to replace him instead. Oak fielded Grimstone in goal, with the same back four from the previous 2 games, in Downs, Mills, Hall and Evans. With Stenning and Wedge-Bull the holding men in midfield, meaning the attacking threat would be down to Packham and Robbins on the wings, Pretlove through the middle and the big gay Seager upfront.

Mile oak started the game strong using the ball well down the flanks like they had been told before the game to do, there were no real chances until half way into the first half when a nice one two between Seager and Packham left Packham through on goal only to drag wide. Oak kept the pressure up on Whitehawk throughout the half being solid at the back and in midfield Stenning and Wedge-Bull were dominating with Whitehawk’s only chance falling as a snap shot after Hall attempted to clear but stood on the ball allowing Whitehawk to strike at goal which Grimstone saved with ease. Hall then found himself on the attack after playing the ball to Packham who passed to Seager who then back heeled into Halls path who cut inside the defender only to see his shot comfortably saved by the keeper. Oak continued creating chances in front of goal for Pretlove and Robins but both failed to find the back of the net. The last chance of the half fell to Packham after some nice play by Mile Oak seeing Packham through again only to drag wide again. The half which Oak dominated ended goalless despite the chances they had to put the game out of sight before half time.

H.T: 0-0

After the break Oak came out and starting to battle right from the start, closing down the opposition all over the pitch, Wedge-Bull and Stenning making their presence felt again in the centre with some great tackles and headers. As the half got on Oak were growing in confidence after creating chance after chance, and failing to hit the back of the net, they were solid from defence to attack putting in strong challenges all over.

Sub – Pretlove off Churchill On.

The hard work was then rewarded after Robbins did brilliantly to get past the left back, and delivered into the box, where Packham met with a firm header into the corner. Oak then began to feel like they could finally put the game to bed, but still failed to put away more chances. Churchill came on looking to prove a point, and did so with the work rate he was providing the team with, he then bagged himself a goal, after being on the pitch for 15 minutes, and what a special goal it was, Seager giving it to Churchill’s feet who then got past a defender with a great piece of skill, then went past another, cut inside and let fly from 25 yards out and then everyone watched as it found the top right corner of the net. Oak now were more relaxed, but still staying as strong and alert as they were before. They then wrapped the game and 3 points up after Seager played the ball up field which saw Robbins chase the ball from the wing to the penalty area and nick the ball around the keeper and put the ball in the back of then net. The lads then became more defensive, protecting their clean sheet, and staying well organised and strong.

F.T: 0-3

A really good, hard fought victory sees Man of the match goes to Daryl Stenning after a great performance, winning everything in the air and on the ground, helping out the defence keep their third clean sheet in as many games. What a tank!

Goal summary:

55 min - Jack Packham (7/10)
Tom Robbins supplied the cross, and Jack Packham found the net from six yards out with a well-finished headed goal.

70 min - Chris Churchill (9/10)
A spectacular individual goal and a moment of magic! Good lead up play from Lee Seager led to Chris Churchill scoring from long range with the right foot.

80 min - Tom Robbins (7/10)
A Lee Seager pass caused pronlems for the opposition's Keeper and Defender, allowing Robbins to get to the ball first and nick it round the keeper, to then slot into the empty net.
