Preparations are well underway for events to commemorate December 1st World AIDS day.
A local partnership of Lunch Positive, Spectrum, THT South, The Sussex Beacon, BHCC community safety team, South Downs Health Trust and CDO Sussex have been working together on planning a series of events to commemorate World Aids Day 2010.

A large exhibition of art and information will be displayed Jubilee Library from 26th November to 2nd December aimed at raising awareness and challenging the stigma around HIV + people and promoting the WAD theme of ‘Act Aware: No matter who or where you are, your actions could make a real difference in stopping the spread of HIV and ending HIV prejudice.’ The responses of last years ‘what does HIV and AIDS mean to you?’ campaign will also be available for people to read. Staff and volunteers from the partnership will be on hand to discuss the exhibition, and provide information around HIV to anyone who wants to know more.

On Wednesday December 1st, The Brighton & Hove Aids Memorial will be the focus of the day’s events in New Steine Gardens. THT and Lunch Positive will provide a safe and welcoming presence at the gardens from mid day, where refreshments and support will be provide.

Lunch positive will also Host a wall of remembrance to allow people to leave personal messages or items on the day.

We welcome everyone to the main event starting at 9pm at the Brighton and Hove AIDS memorial, The event has been managed by Billie Lewis productions, It will include a musical item; candle lit vigil and formal reading of the names of those we have lost to HIV and Aids in Brighton and Hove. We particularly welcome those who have attended the Gay men’s chorus concert at St Mary’s church and the HIV chaplaincy service at St Nicolas church.
